31 Days to Happily Ever After – Day 8 – Cue the Music

I want to switch gears for today and talk about the DJ and the reception music. Jess and Scott have hired a guy who is a very popular wedding DJ, and after meeting with him last weekend to finalize their plans, he told them he cannot wait for their wedding. They chose songs and artists he got very excited about. Can you guess why?

Classic rock, baby!

There will be some contemporary stuff, and the usual wedding fun with YMCA and the Chicken Dance, and the Social Hour music will be easy listening, but most of the night we’ll be rockin’ to the best of the ‘70’s. Totally fits in with all the other vintage components we’re incorporating into this “rustic elegance” theme.

The first song played at my own wedding dance 31 years ago was actually from 1980, but it counts as a classic:

I’m pretty sure we’ll be hearing this played that night. I don’t know about the second song we had played – REO Speedwagon’s “Riding the Storm Out” complete with sirens. Scott wasn’t too keen on that one… LOL.

So what is your favorite wedding dance song? We can make requests all night long, so I’d love to hear your ideas!

  1. Kim and I both think of your wedding dance when we hear that song. Then we both remember the long ride back to Henderson with Grandma & Grandpa fighting in German. Too funny! Sorry we are missing the big event!

  2. The first that comes to mind was played when Ellyn (with a "y") got married on
Thirty Someting (think that was the name of the show) (which I loved)...
and it was "Come Rain or Come Shine". I'm gonna love you like nobody's loved you - come rain or come shine. Happy Together, Unhappy Together, Oh won't it be fine... (and so on) - makes me cry every time I see/hear it...
